We are in turbulent times right now. The reaction to the COVID-19 Virus is something that has exceeded anything I have ever seen in my lifetime. Fear has caused hoarding of things like toilet paper and hand santizer, as well as the sell off of stocks. With that also are the list of events that are being cancelled or postponed. Certainly the true impacts of this are yet to be seen.
The opportunity that we have as a church in this is somewhat unprecedented also. Following Jesus means our life is driven by faith not fear. Paul wrote in Philipians 4:7 that there is a peace that passes all human understanding found in Jesus Christ. Our job right now is to live that out in a way that helps others find hope in Christ alone. We have no reason to cease meeting when we serve the Almighty God. The story of David and Goliath is a good one for right now. We might feel like David, small and weak, compared to a scary virus that is perceived to be bigger than we are. But what was the key to David’s story? The key was that he went after Goliath in the name of the Lord Almighty.
Let’s pray for the world to be awakened to their need for Jesus.
Let’s pray for our children who are anxious about all that is going on. Please help the kids know that they are safe.
Let’s pray for those who are sick to find healing in Jesus
Please know that the situation is being monitored for best practices going forward. There is no plan to cancel any services or programs at this time.
Precautions We Are Taking
The building is cleaned each week, but more emphasis has been added to the disinfection of high touch areas. (door handles, light switches, tables etc)
The nursery toys have been disinfected and will continue to be weekly.
We do have hand sanitizer on the wall in the entryway. Soap is obviously available in all restrooms and at the coffee bar sink.
We are encouraging people who are sick to stay home. We do have our sermons posted online each Monday at battlelake.org
Common sense flu season practices still remain the best ones.
That is where things are at for now. If you have any questions, please feel free to let me know.
Keeping Looking to Jesus!
