A Call to the Uncomfortable

God will lead you out of your comfort

What areas of your life are untouchable by God?  Are there places where you draw the line on obedience to God?  I have heard people say "I will do anything, go anywhere, just don't send me to that place, or call me to lead a kids class, or give that much money away."  But if you are living with obedience to God in mind,  expect Him to lead you to uncomfortable places for His glory and your good.  In our new sermon series on Elijah, we see a prophet called to go confront an evil king.  (see 1 Kings 17) Can you imagine what it would be like to get the call from God to go and confront the king?  You don’t just walk up to the king and insult him with an expectation that you will live.

God leads us to new and exciting places!

God leads us to new and exciting places!

But God had brought Elijah to this place for this purpose and it was important that he step out.  It was not a comfortable place, but it was the call of God.

Elijah has done the unthinkable. He has kicked the hornets’ nest by confronting the king, and now God moves him along.  Here is what it says:

So he did what the Lord had told him.  He went to the Kerith Ravien, east of the Jordan, and stayed there.  The ravens brought him bread and meat in the evening, and he drank from the brook. 1 Kings 17:5-6

So he did what the Lord told him!   There was no questioning God's plans for him, nor God's provision for him.  He had such faith in God that he just went.  And God provided!  God faithfully fed him and eventually moved him to the next place.

Expect God to call you to those untouchable places as you learn to trust Him for everything.   May it be true of us that we did what the Lord told us to do with expectation of His work.

Will you surrender your life to Jesus and walk with Him in those places He is calling you?  You will be blessed and God's work will be accomplished.
